Telegram today is more than just a messaging app. It is an anonymous platform with thousands of groups where people discuss everything under the sun: from the news to services that can hardly be described as legal. Among the most dubious are communities that promise to find models for parties, escort services or private club events.
It might seem convenient: just message the manager to arrange a meeting with a girl. But behind this apparent simplicity lie risks ranging from legal consequences to outright fraud. The list of potential problems is longer than it seems at first glance. Below, we explain why such Telegram groups are not the right channel through which to seek out providers of sensitive VIP-level services.
Fraudulent business practices
At first glance, Telegram groups dedicated to model casting appear to be exclusive interest-based clubs operating under the motto «We’ll do everything we can to make your desires a reality» or «An opportunity to broaden the horizons of your sensual experiences». However, inside them, complete chaos often reigns: no moderation, suspicious members with anonymous accounts, and dozens of administrators whose identities cannot be verified. In such circumstances, even simply browsing the messages can turn into a problem.
Telegram gives the illusion of accessibility and simplicity: you send a message, make arrangements, and turn up for a meeting with a beautiful woman from an escort agency. But it is precisely this informality and the lack of any moderation that turn the platform into a convenient tool for fraudsters. This is particularly true in a niche where money, confidentiality and the lack of transparent agreements for each meeting are key factors — for example, when booking models for an event.
Fake groups
More often than not, the scheme appears harmless: someone posts an advert on behalf of an «agency», attaches what purports to be a portfolio of models, quotes prices for escort services — and gets in touch very quickly. But if you dig a little deeper, it turns out that the «agency» doesn’t even have a basic website, and all communication takes place exclusively via chat. They ask for payment to be made to a personal bank account, often marked «personal transfer», without any formal contract for services.
As a result, you risk not only losing money, but also leaving your personal details in the hands of fraudsters: your name, telephone number, email address, and sometimes even scans of documents — supposedly for «processing the application» or as a «guarantee». Of course, you never actually meet any of these models. And in the event of a dispute, it is virtually impossible to prove that fraud has taken place — Telegram does not provide details of channel owners, and private message exchanges cannot be officially verified.
Cloning real-world agencies
Fake accounts and channels regularly appear on Telegram, where the logo, name and design are deliberately copied. Such «agencies» come up with similar-sounding names, such as IMG Moscow Models, IMG Elite RU, IMG Booking, etc. — there are minor differences in the names, but visually everything looks convincing.
The scheme then follows a well-established pattern: the bogus agency publishes posts featuring «models» profiles and uploads photos from fashion shoots (most often stolen), and states that the models are available for private events, photo shoots, parties and high-end escort services. It all looks so convincing that people stop asking questions. But as soon as you send a private message, they immediately send you the amount and payment methods: payment for the booking is to be made to a private individual’s bank card.
What is particularly dangerous is that fake accounts often disable the comment function on their Telegram channels — so that users cannot warn others. Reviews are either fabricated or non-existent. The only way to get in touch is via an anonymous account with a username such as @manager_luximg. There is not a single official point of contact, no website, and not even a sole trader registration available to the public. And if you decide to check the official IMG Models website, you won’t find a single match.
Creating fake profiles
One of the most common scams in Telegram groups is the use of a large number of photos. These may include photos of real models from social media, photos from modelling agencies, shots from fashion shows, ordinary stock photos downloaded from free photo banks, and even images generated by artificial intelligence. Using these images, scammers create fake profiles and invent names and biographies for supposedly «experienced escorts».
It all looks professional: a neat portfolio, links to social media (often fake or inactive), a list of services, and a promise to create unforgettable moments. Sometimes they even attach fake reviews to the description — screenshots of chats or comments that cannot be verified. The client is given the impression that they are dealing with a genuine, sought-after escort. In reality, however, they are merely looking at a fictitious persona, behind which could be anyone from a lone fraudster to an organised group specialising in scams.
A «manager» gets in touch — usually another anonymous account with no photo or profile history. They conduct the conversation professionally, reply quickly and are flexible with the terms. But at some point, they ask you to pay, choosing a convenient payment method — to confirm the booking, compensate the escort for their time, or guarantee their arrival. Payment for the escort’s services is usually requested to be transferred to a personal bank card via instant transfers, without a formal contract.
After that, the scam can go one of two ways. Either the person disappears straight away, blocking you, or they continue to make empty promises, stalling for time and extracting more and more money — supposedly for transport, urgency, exclusivity, additional services, and so on. In the end, no one turns up, the money isn’t returned, and any attempts to contact the «manager» are met with silence or a block.

How to spot fraudsters
To avoid falling victim to fraudsters, you need to check carefully who you are giving your personal details to or transferring money to. You can tell if you are dealing with fraudsters by looking out for the following signs:
- Prices that seem too good to be true. The offer to spend an evening with Angelina Jolie in Saratov for just 5,000 roubles is tempting, but it’s hardly likely to be genuine. If an agency is offering services at prices significantly below market rates, it’s worth asking yourself whether there’s a catch.
- No advertising. Large agencies invest a great deal of resources in advertising and maintaining their reputation. You’ll easily be able to find their website, mentions on third-party sites and reviews. Check this information before sending anyone any money.
- Suspicious or non-existent social media accounts. Make sure the agency has «active» communities. If a group or channel was created just a couple of weeks ago, you’re most likely dealing with scammers.
- No subscription or upfront payment. Most large, reputable agencies ask for a subscription fee or an upfront payment. This is standard practice in the industry: it helps to ensure the safety and privacy of clients or models. However, payments are always made to the organisation’s account. If you are asked to transfer money to a bank card or use cryptocurrency, you are most likely dealing with a scam.
